Why Accountability Matters on GLP-1s

Why Accountability Matters on GLP-1s

One of the things I talk about a lot with our members is accountability.

Not accountability in the sense of someone chasing you because you missed a workout or making you feel guilty because you haven't had a perfect week. For me, good accountability is about having someone there who knows your plan, knows how you're getting on and can actually change things when life changes.

And when you're on a GLP-1, things can change quite a lot.

Your energy isn't going to be the same every week

This is probably one of the biggest reasons accountability is such an important part of GLP Approach.

You might be feeling great, training regularly and getting into a really good routine. Then you move up a dose and suddenly the next couple of weeks feel completely different.

Your energy is lower. You're struggling to eat as much. The workouts that felt absolutely fine two weeks ago suddenly feel like a lot.

That's okay. We change the plan.

Maybe we take a workout out that week. Maybe we make the sessions shorter or bring the intensity down a little.

Then the opposite can happen. You settle into your dose, you're feeling good again and you've got more energy.

Great. Let's do a little more.

I'd much rather change someone's programme for a couple of weeks than have them feel like they've failed because they couldn't stick to a plan that no longer suited them.

Your training can change as you do

I see this quite a lot with our members too.

Someone might come to us wanting to train completely at home. They've never been particularly comfortable in a gym, or they just want something simple they can fit around their life.

Then a few months down the line they decide they actually want to give the gym a go.

We don't suddenly have to completely change everything.

Maybe you do two workouts at home and one at the gym. Maybe eventually you move completely into the gym. Or maybe half and half just works perfectly for you.

There isn't one correct way to do it.

The important thing is that your programme keeps fitting around you.

Sometimes a message makes all the difference

This is probably the simplest part of what we do, but I think it's one of the most important.

It's really easy not to open an app.

We've all done it. You miss a workout, then another one, and before you know it a week has gone by.

But when there's an actual person on the other end who knows you and knows what you're working towards, it's different.

Sometimes all it takes is a message from your coach:

"How are you getting on this week?"

Maybe you're absolutely fine and just needed that little nudge.

Or maybe you're not fine. Your energy has disappeared after increasing your dose, work has been manic, or something else has changed.

That's useful for us to know, because then we can actually do something about it.

That's what accountability means to me

We're not here to watch whether you've ticked every box in an app.

We're here to help you keep going.

Some weeks that might mean encouraging you to do a little more. Other weeks it might actually mean telling you to do less.

Because ultimately, the best programme isn't the one that looks perfect on paper. It's the one you can keep doing.

That's a huge part of what we're trying to build at GLP Approach.

A real person in your corner, a plan that can change when you need it to, and the accountability to help you keep moving forward.
